Tijuana smells like playoffs

Xolos defeated San Luis 1-0

Xoloitzcuintles is practically in the playoffs of the mexican soccer league after defeating San Luis 1-0 on the game of last Saturday at the field of the Alfonso Lastras Stadium.

Tijuana awaits for the results on the games of this weekend. If Pachuca and Jaguares lose, the red and black team will be officially in the "Big Party" in only their first year at the highest circuit of mexican soccer.

The game started very slowly with small attacks from both teams.

Xolos were the first ones to get close to the goal and in the 25 minute, the midfield player Egidio Arévalo took a bounce in the area that the goalkepper César Lozano turned aside.

The team directed by Antonio Mohamed kept the ball most of the time with a rival that didn't showed much in the field.

On the second half of the game, Xoloitzcuintles improved their defense and it looked as if they were searching for a tie because their director "El Turco" sent men to the field as Alfredo González Tahuilán when the score was in zeros.

It was on the 74 minute when the Tijuana team took the victory thanks to a special play of their offensive couple.

José Sand gave a pass to Duvier Riascos who sent the ball to the upper angle in Lozano's area.

With the end of this match, Tijuana stands in the sixth position of the tournament, a place as result of seven victories, six ties and three defeats. Also,Tijuana has become the best defense since they only have 10 goals from their rivals on 16 dates.

Xolos will close the regular calendar of this tournament next week at their home in the Caliente Stadium when they receive UNAM's Pumas.

In the case of Pachuca or Jaguares winning this date, Tijuana only will need a tie next weekend to stay in the playoffs.
