The Fall of Manny Pacquiao

His remarks against the gay community could result in loss of sponsors.

Just two days after Manny Pacquiao expressed his disagreement with President Obama's statements in favor of marriages between persons of the same sex, he was banned from entering Hollywood's best-known mall, and this is just the beginning of a lacklustar future.

The administration of "The Grove", through its representative Bill Reich, declared to the LA Weekly that "Based on Mr. Pacquiao's reported statements, we've made of public knowledge that he is not welcome in The Grove, and will not be interviewed here now or in the future. The Grove is a gathering point for all the people of Los Angeles, but not for intolerance." Pacquiao was about to be interviewed at that location by "Extra" to talk about his upcoming fight with Timothy Bradley on June 9.

Advertising specialists believe that Pacquiao's statements could affect contracts the boxer has with several companies. In sports, athletes get much of their profits when they appear as the image for advertising campaigns.

After the controversy originated over the interview made by Granculle Ampong, the reporter mentioned that he included the biblical quotation from the Book of Leviticus, which states that homosexuals deserve death and Pacquiao never mentioned it. Manny Pacquiao added that he had only said that gay marriage was against God's word and that he did not know the biblical quote because he hasn't read that book yet.
