Obama launches bilingual website

The president’s campaign aims to educate voters

WASHINGTON.- The reelection campaign of U.S. President Barack Obama, launched a bilingual website in English and Spanish to mobilize Latino voters and educate them about the country's complex electoral process.

The website "www.votemostodos.org" is a bilingual tool that aims to help Americans understand their rights and learn how to exercise their vote in each state.

During a conference call with reporters, Gabriela Domenzain, communications director of Hispanic media for the Obama campaign, said that the language should not be a barrier for Hispanics to exercise their right to vote

The goal, she explained, is "to involve all Americans" and mobilize the biggest number of Hispanic voters to the polls on November 6, where Obama will seek a second term.

The Obama campaign has also created a program in Spanish to provide information on using this important tool.

Thus, "votemostodos.org" includes information on where and how to vote, reminders of important dates and alerts about conditions or changes related to the rights of voters in each state.

The bilingual website launch is part of a new campaign to win the Hispanic vote "door to door" and through telephone calls, which also includes a video in Spanish broadcast on YouTube.

In 2008, Obama won 67% of the Hispanic vote, which helped catapult him to the White House that year. As then, his campaign actively courts the Hispanic vote this year.

According to projections by the National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO), more than 12 million Hispanics will attend the polls this coming November.
