IMAC: Culture to all corners of Tijuana

The Artistic and Cultural Institute of Tijuana (IMAC) opens the door to enjoy the mexican pride

A very special edition of the Book Fair in Tijuana

This great event has taken place since 1980, and when IMAC was created, it took responsibility for the organization. Like everything else, it has evolved, it had changed their locations, and in 2012, the 30th edition will be held at the Plaza Rio premises.

In 2011, the Tijuana Book Fair was visited by 110 thousand people, and this year they expect more than 140 thousand.

The international presence will be the biggest so far. From Spain they will have Jorge Carrion, and a large number of American poets such as Rae Armantrout who lived in San Diego and received the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 2010, Cristina Rivera Garza, Carmen Lopez Portillo, GIS, Trino, Javier Velazco, Jerome Rothenberg and more.

With 220 publishers represented, visitors will find plenty of books on any subject you can imagine. They will also have artistic activities and workshops, which audiences of all ages will be able to enjoy.

Each year, a tribute is made, and this time it belongs to Daniel Sada from Mexicali.

The 30th Book Fair will also be the perfect setting to deliver the National Poetry Prize.

IMAC is taking firm steps to turn Tijuana into a city of culture, and besides organizing their own events, it supports citizen initiatives and that close ties between people and the arts community.

With their great work, it's easy to find out about the great movement Tijuana is currently living, and now the city is projecting all this goodness and the Mexican pride across the border.
