IFE launches Mobile App to keep track of Mexican elections results

Handheld device owners will be able to follow the PREP's vote counting

Mobile device users will be able to follow the vote counting of the upcoming Mexican elections through the Program of Electoral Preliminary Results' (PREP by its initials in Spanish) official app.

The tool was presented by the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) itself and is already available for free download at the Apple's AppStore.

According to the IFE, the application "Elección 2012" ("Election 2012";), will allow citizens to keep up with the preliminary results of the voting for president, senators and congressmen in Mexico on a live feed.

The PREP's first results will be announced on the 1st of July as of 8pm, central time zone (same as the USA's CST).

At the same time, the results will also be made available through the IFE's official website on the night of the Election Day.

The 2012 election is considered the largest in Mexico's history. Besides selecting a president, voters in Mexico will elect 2,000 representatives, among them six governors and the mayor of Mexico City.
