WBA Boxing Match to be Held in The Guadalupe Valley

Jackie Nava goes against Lisa Brown on August 18

TIJUANA.- The Guadalupe Valley wine country will be the perfect stage to house an international level fight.

It will be on August 18 when Tijuana-born Jackie Nava "La Princesa Azteca" faces Lisa Brown from Trinidad and Tobago to fight for the World Boxing Association's (WBA) Female Bantamweight Championship title.

The place, with an approximate capacity of 3,000 people, is expecting a sold out show even though some tickets are still available through the web and at different venues in Tijuana, Tecate and Ensenada, said promoters.

It is the second time that the L.A. Cetto's Vineyards hold a sports event, the first time being the fight between Fernando "Cohulito" Montiel and Álvaro Pérez, back in August of 2011. The Mexican boxer won by a wide margin for the delight of Baja California natives.

Organizers expect the success of that event to be achieved again and even hope to make an annual tradition of the boxing matches on the Guadalupe Valley with a prime line-up every time.

"The place is emblematic of Baja California" stated Francisco Franco of Zanfer Promotions during a press conference held in the city of Tijuana. "It's a more than perfect venue to hold a quality event".

The 32 year old "Princesa Azteca", has been training for 20 days in the city of Toluca to battle the left handed boxer Lisa Brown, from Trinidad and Tobago but living in Canada.

"It will be a tough commitment" expressed Guillermo Britto, operations manager of Zanfer. "She is training hard but we know she'll be ready to put on a great show".

The manager informed that they are currently screening the local talent to promote the event and make up a quality show.

He also estimated that the fight, to be broadcasted in México by Televisión Azteca, will reach 10 millions of people; in addition, the rights to broadcasted in the United States, Canada and some countries of Latin America were sold.

On his part, Britto broke that, depending on the outcome, a fight between Nava and Mariana Juárez is already on the works and would tentatively happen next October in Mexico City.

Tickets are on sale through the TicketsMx website with prices from $600 and $1,500 Mexican pesos. Doors will open at 4 pm in the L.A. Cetto's Vineyards and the fights are expected to start after 5 pm.
