Another medal for Mexico in London 2012

Mexico gets silver in synchronized diving female 10m platform

London’s Aquatics Center delivered the silver medal to Mexico in 10m platform diving for a second day in a row; this time the honor comes from Paola Espinosa and Alejandra Orozco. Just yesterday their male counterparts Iván García and Germán Sánchez won the same award at the same event for Mexico.

The Mexican female diving duo’s contribution started with a few minor technical glitches during the first two mandatory dives. From the third jump onward, Paola’s experience started to favor the Aztec team.

The finesse and neatness with which they executed the remaining four dives during the final round allowed the Mexican duet to forge their way up to the silver award. The golden medallion was never in their reach, though, since the Asian team set the guidelines for their competition right from the start.

With this result the Mexican diving team topped the bronze received in Beijing 2008, back then Paola Espinoza was paired up with Tatiana Ortiz. For this Olympic competition, however, she changed partners. Alejandra Orozco turned out to be the perfect match, her prowess was established today, not once did she look nervous during her Olympic debut.

With this second diving award, Mexico confirmed its quality and presence at the London’s Aquatics Center.

The gold medal was awarded to China while Mexico earned the silver award and Canada received the bronze medallion.
