For the first time in Mexicos history, they are in the final round of the Olympic Games after defeating Japan 3 to 1 in mens soccer at the Wembley Stadium, in England.
With the victory, the Mexican team secures a medal in the summer tournament and is currently waiting for a contender to be decided from the match between Brazil and South Korea.
The first scare was for Mexico thanks to the Japanese team who scored an awesome goal by front man Yuki Otsu who shot it from outside of the area to the Mexicans goalkeeper Corona upper right side, but it was impossible for him to stop.
Mexico didnt give up the fight and soon started to attack from the sides.
But it wasn't until the minute 30 when the mexican soccer team would achieve a tie. Midfielder Jorge Enríquez headed a shot from the corner for Marco Fabián to score with a header.
After the break, the field was entirely under Mexican control but it would take 20 minutes for them to prove it in the scoreboard at minute 65.
Front man Oribe Peralta scored an authentic jewel from outside the area leaving no hope for the Japanese goalkeeper.
It seemed the match would end like that but at minute 92 Javier Cortés, just joining the game, scored the 3-1 that would define the Mexican pass to the finals.
With this result Mexico locks a medal in soccer; next Saturday the boys will go hunting for a golden target.
