Xolos are back on the field

The canine squad restarts its training schedule after a break

TIJUANA, BC.- The Tijuana Club Xoloitzcuintles of Caliente are back on the training field getting ready for their next engagement against Atlante after a short break.

After defeating 2-0 the Jaguares from Chiapas last week, the hounds got a two-day rest during which some of its team members traveled to their hometowns to visit their families; all of this thanks to the FIFA schedule, where the soccer world gets one week off.

But before they face Atlante, Xolos will host the Pumas of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) during the last week of the MX Cup's regular roll, in its Apertura edition 2012.

This Tuesday the team led by Antonio Mohamed got back on the Caliente Stadium field, on Wednesday they had a double session of training.

"We are doing great; teamwork has kept us on the right path. We want to continue like that, we are going to complete this stage with a good rhythm and we need to train harder to aspire to bigger thing in the tournament," commented Cirilo Salcedo, the goal keeper.

He added that "I think the accomplishments this team has had in such a short time have been exceptional, last tournament we were fighting to stay in the First Division and today we are fighting for a possible group lead and that tells you about the great work that has been done and the vision of the people who put it together; our job is to keep working with humility and unity."

On his part the defense Joshua Ábrego mentioned that "we are still working hard to keep up the good results during the next part of the tournament. We want to stay on top of the overall league standings, if we stay focused and with a positive attitude we can achieve that."

Xoloitzcuintles will train on the beach this week to give its canine team an intense physical workout.

Joe Corona with the US Team

It's worth noting that midfielder Joe Corona was called by Jürgen Klinsmann, coach of the United States National Soccer team for the eliminatory rounds of the Brazil World Cup 2014 where they will face Jamaica's squad.

The date is September 07 in Kingston and then the 11 in Columbus, Ohio.

The young player, who has been with Xolos since the Third Division could see his first official play minutes with the National US team marking with this his future since from that moment onwards he will only be able to play for the US and not for any other of his nationalities: Mexico or Salvador.
