Rosarito Beach increases it's hotel occupancy

Memorial Day Holiday and the 2012 Art Fest

The restoration of trust from the people due to the calm safe environment that Rosarito Beach is going through, has been reflected in the arrival of visitors, said Martha Mendoza, manager of the Rosarito Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO in Spanish), who added that during the month of May, among the more stand out events where the Memorial Day celebrations and the third edition of the Rosarito Art Fest, thanks to which the highest tourism numbers for the city in years were registered.

According to COTUCO market studies, the art sector represents one of the identity elements that is most recommended on keeping up promotion, since their studies have been helpful on continuing tourism promotion, as one could witness on May 26 and 27, in which renowned artist in photography, sculpture, painting, music and regional dance were present, as well as many pavilions with food samples during the third edition of the 2012 Art Fest.

You can still see, said the COTUCO manager, a tendency on more tourist and visitors in comparison with the two previous years, attributed to many factors like the regaining of trust from visitors, the enjoyable weather that has prevailed and the great array of promotional work that COTUCO has carried out in coordination with the Baja California Tourism Ministry (SECTURE) delegation and the Rosarito Tourism Promotion Trust.

The improved public safety conditions and the quality of the event’s organizing give a jolt to the recovery of Rosarito Beach’s economy, expressed mayor Javier Robles Aguirre when inaugurating the third edition of the 2012 Art Fest.

Robles Aguirre noted that the Rosarito Art Fest has already been recognized as one of the most important art festivals in northwestern Mexico, with the participation of more than 100 plastic artists from the region, and that it also brings together art exhibits, fun, entertainment, food, live music, folk ballet and mariachi.

It is an event that generates a lot of participation from family tourism, which is why they’ve taken a lot of care with every detail, specially those referring to the issue of safety for visitors, highlighted Robles Aguirre.

During the event’s inauguration, the mayor of Rosarito awarded noted artist from the region with recognitions, like to Carlos Coronado, Alvaro Blancarte, Najera and Scott Kennedy who were acknowledged for their contribution to art, another of the honored artist was photographer Vidal Pinto, who has a great career representing Baja California.
