Querétaro 0–1 Xolos: Moreno breaks records and gives 3 points to Tijuana

The Argentinian player scored his 128th goal on the Mexican league

QUERÉTARO, QUERÉTARO.- Breaking the net guarded by J. Castillo, and at the same time breaking the record of most goals scored by an Argentinian player in Mexico, Alfredo "Chango" Moreno scored today to give Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente 3 points while beating the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro.

The game was played at Estadio Corregidora, as part of Week 10 of the Liga MX 2012 Apertura tournament.

Xolos has now 23 points and stays on second place of the Standings, under Diablos Rojos de Toluca who defeated Atlas.

The game

The first minutes of play were very dull, without any opportunities created by any of the squads. The clock would advance and the teams seemed like they were not going to harm each other this day.

But at the 38th minute Argentinian forward Alfredo Moreno, thanks to a pass from Juan Carlos Núñez, would score the first and only goal of the match. This goal breaks a record, as it is the number 128 on his personal account in Mexico, giving him the title of the best "goleador argentino" on Mexican soccer.

On the second half, things would keep calm, but Xolos was able to have more possession over the ball, and looked via Duvier Riascos to beat goalkeeper Castillo once again.

While Tijuana kept the ball on their feet, Querétaro had a few chances which were not that clear; the only bad news of the game were that Paraguayan defender Pablo César Aguilar would get 2 yellow cards and was sent off the field; this left his team with only 10 men and the player will not be present on Xoloitzcuintles' next match.

His absence was not felt at all, thanks to the lack of attacking ideas from Querétaro, which is still at the bottom of the Standings.

At the end, Tijuana was able to get 3 more points, and its eight consecutive unbeaten match on Liga MX.

Xolos will continue its road trip of 3 consecutive away games this Wednesday, when the team visits Estadio Tecnológico de Nuevo León to play against Rayados de Monterrey. That game will take place on as part of Week 11. After that Tijuana will receive the visit from Diablos Rojos del Toluca on Sunday; the match, which will take place at Estadio Caliente, will surely be very spectacular as both teams are looking to stay on top of the Standings.
