It is true that in the major cities, almost everyone speaks a few words of English…but you will reap copious rewards in smiles and goodwill if you at least try to say a few words in the language of the country you are visiting.

For instance, if you are in dire need of a margarita (and aren't we all), you might say, "Por favor! Necesito un margarita pronto!"

Here are a few handy phrases for those times when you need to say something important or have questions to ask.
