Xolos will have one more player out; a total of 5 now

Edgar Castillo suffers injury in the U.S. camp and Javier Gandolfi will be suspended from the game against Santos.

TIJUANA, BC.- If this week was already going to be complicated for Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente who will be playing against Santos on Saturday, it will now be even more complicated due to the bad news that was received this past Wednesday night, that it will be now a total of 5 players who will be out for this game.

It was informed that the U.S. citizen defender Edgar Castillo, suffered an injury during training in the U.S. camp, and will now return back to the border town to nurse the injury and recover. This new change of events will now reverse the decision that was originally made by the Mexican Futbol Federation (FMF), which the Argentinian captain Javier Gandolfi was going to be allowed to play in the game against Santos, and his suspension was going to be postponed until the game versus Cruz Azul.

Originally article 26 of the rule book was going to be applied that would of allowed Gandolfi to play, but now with the return of Castillo, that only makes 2 players and not 3 that will be out due to their recruitment by their national team, midfielder Joe Corona for the U.S and defender Pablo Cesar Aguilar for Paraguay.

Xolos head coach Antonio Mohamed now his hands full going into this next game with a total of 5 players out, Gandolfis official suspension, and not to mention that Castillo’s injury now adds a total of 2 players to the injury list along with Cristian Pellerano.

This Thursday will be the last training session at home for the team, who will then travel to Torreon, Coahuila, where they will focus on hopefully being able to defeat Santos Laguna.

The match against the Aztec soccer champions, will take place on Saturday 7p.m. local time, 5p.m. pacific (PST) at the stadium in Territorio Santos Modelo, as part of week 13 of the Apertura tournament 2012 of the Liga MX.

Xolos currently are in the first position of the Apertura 2012 tournament since they won against Toluca last week.
