A stop to human trafficking and slavery

Prop 35. Protect children in California

With 15 days until Election Day throughout the U.S., many people are still not familiar with many propositions, which has been more of a reason for Senator Dianne Feinstein to speak about prop 35, that she is also a big supporter of.The proposition is looking to deal with crimes like human trafficking, and sexual exploitation of women and children. Although this may sound like something out of a horror movie, it is still a common problem.

In regards to the proposition Senator Feinstein said, "I view human trafficking as the basest of crimes. Proposition 35 would raise sentences as high as 15 years to life for anyone who traffics a minor for sexual exploitation through coercion, violence or duress.It also levies fines as high as $1.5 million on the traffickers to fund victim services. It is long overdue, and I urge its passage."

As a senator for California, she has worked along with both Democrats and Republicans to find solutions, and firmly believes that both parties should not be divided on a lot of issues, but instead always work together for the common wellbeing of the people in California and the nation.

One of her main priorities has been the safety of all children, and was a big supporter for the Amber Alert program, which alerts all sort of police departments and officials when a child has been abducted, which the goal of that program is for the safe return of the missing child.

Human trafficking networks are one of the largest growing networks and most lucrative ones in the world, and unfortunately in California there are already three cities, which the FBI recognizes that has a high rate of these crimes and cases.

The three cities affected the most by these crimes are San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego, as of the result of this and many other things, the State of California has received an "F" as a grade to the poor and lack of laws in regards to sex crimes and trafficking of minors.

There have been also many cases in which girls as young as 12 years old have suffered some sort of sexual and psychological abuse.

California against Slavery and the Safer California Foundation are big supporters of prop 35, which in this initiative contains the following;

Prop 35 will protect children in California by increasing prison terms for human traffickers, require convicted sex traffickers to register as sex offenders, require all registered sex offenders to disclose their internet accounts, and require criminal fines from convicted human traffickers to pay for services to help victims.
