TIJUANA, BC. – Baseball has now returned to the Mexican border with Toros of Tijuana. A team whose nine players on the field will be participating in the Northern League of Mexico (LNM), along with 5 other teams.
In a spectacular presentation of the new team, the “Toros” (bulls) were exhibited in front several sources of news media and fans at the Grand Hotel in Tijuana.
The team comes to this city which in the last three years has been represented by the Thunders of Tijuana in this league.
The Toros of Tijuana will be competing against such teams like, Eagles from Mexicali, Brewers from Tecate, Mariners of Ensenada, Cotton balls of San Luis and the Sharks of Puerto Peñasco.
The 2013 season of the Northern League will start on Wednesday April 3rd, which on this date Tijuana will face of the Mariners of Ensenada as the season opener game, and will have to come back on Sunday to Tijuana to play at home against the Mariners again.
The first series that the Toros will have as visitors will be against the Eagles of Mexicali, while the first home series will be against Ensenada on April 9, 10 and 11.
The All Star game will be on May 19, 2013, in which all of the best players in the league will be facing each other.
The regular season is expected to wrap up early July. And will lead into the semifinals and finals.
The stadium “Cerro Colorado” that will now be home of the Toros, along with the announcement of the team, it was also informed that the stadium will undergo some renovations to attract more fans and sell tickets.
Improvements will be made on the grass that is on the field and dugouts.
Toros will also be using a new logo, the same one that they used back in 2004 which was the year that they had their first season, in which they played with great intensity and had an unforgettable participation in the Mexican Baseball League.
