VIDEO: Man Points A Gun At Bulgarian Politician on Live T.V.
Leader of the Bulgarian political party, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Ahmed Dogan, was about to start his speech, when a man came up on stage and pulled out a gun in an attempt to shoot Dogan in the head.
The incident happened on Saturday while cameras were rolling in front of members of the MRF party in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The attacker who is said to be 25 years old and whose name has not been released, was knocked to the ground and beaten by guards at the conference. The motive for the attack is yet unknown.
The assailant is said to have a criminal record that includes drug possession and robberies.
The Bulgarian Interior Minister said that there were two knives found on the attacker after he was taken away and processed.
The MFR party represents ethnic Turks and other Muslims in Bulgaria, and who are estimated to be about 12% of Bulgaria’s population which Dogan has been the leader of this group for more than 25 years now.
Ahmed Dogan came back to the stage after the attack, and received a lot of applauses from everyone in attendance.
