"One day now after the tragedy in Pemex, I want to reiterate my sincere condolences to the families of those who sadly lost their lives in this tragic event, and that has certainly overwhelmed all of the Mexican people with sadness and pain.

I would like to also express my sympathy towards the people who were injured in this unfortunate event, and that my support is focused on them and their families.

Our country is now filled with sadness. Mexico is in mourning and grief, which now with the scope of powers that are vested in me by the law on these matters, I have decided to decree three days of national mourning.

The support of the Federal Government to the relatives of the deceased and injured workers continues. The work of the Attorney General's Office is directed to conduct a thorough and exhaustive investigation to allow us to clarify the causes of this unfortunate event.

Mexico is a country that is united and determined, who acts in firmness through the bad moments, and despite the pain that overwhelms us as a nation, is time to continue to move forward, growing and moving towards better and future horizons."
