MIAMI.- The record label Sony Music Latin said it mistakenly put on sale in the United States a disc by Mexican songstress Alejandra Guzman and apologized for the incident.

"We hereby wish to announce that due to an involuntary incident, the disc entitled 'Sexy' by Alejandra Guzman was put on sale in the United States, to be immediately withdrawn as soon as the error was detected," the company said Friday in a communique.

The record company, which gave no further details about the mistake, launched last Jan. 29 the disc "Sexy," a collection of her all-time hits like "Hacer el Amor con Otro" (Making Love with Another), "Loca" (Crazy Girl), "Quiero Estar Contigo" (I Want to Be with You) and "Ven" (Come), among others.

Sony Music Latin apologized to "this great artist, to her fans and to the media for this inconvenience."

Important Web sites for online music sales in the United States like Barnes & Noble and FYE have posted a notice that the disc is no longer available, though eBay and Amazon mention no problem with regard to the album.

The record company said, however, that the Mexican singer and winner of several prizes like the Latin Grammy, ASCAP and Billboard Latin awards "is currently working on a new project that is sure to please her fans."
