Acapulco, the world’s second most dangerous City

Mexico has 9 cities in the top 50

According an investigation conducted by the Citizen Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice, in which 189 countries were analyzed, Mexico has 9 cities in the top 50 most violent cities in the world which are Acapulco, Torreon, Ciudad Victoria, Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo, Culiacan, Cuernavaca, Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez.

Acapulco is the second most violent city in the world and number one in Mexico, according to the study.

Jose Antonio Ortega, chairman of the CCSPJP, said that the state of Guerrero is one that lacks authority and has failed in public safety, and not just because of the murder rate, but because now the only authority that is currently present are community service officers, who patrol the city to protect its residents.

Currently, the city of Acapulco has a rate of 143 murders per every 100,000 inhabitants, which the only other city that surpasses that amount is San Pedro Sula in Honduras, whose murder rate is 169 per every 100,000.

Ortega also stated since the new administration that is headed by Enrique Peña Nieto came into power, he did not see a change in public safety, and that instead of the President and the Mayor of Acapulco crying, they should be looking for the men who raped all of Spanish tourists that has now given the famous port a bad image.

Acapulco is not living its best moments currently, where a few weeks ago it was also announced that the city was in bankruptcy and that the administration has had to work very hard to pay off their debts.
