The government of Venezuela has now released new pictures of Hugo Chavez, after having undergone a fourth operation in Cuba.

It’s been about two months now that Chavez has not been seen in public, and rumors about his health pointed to the worst, but authorities from Venezuela now report that the president is recovering well.

On the picture above, Chavez appears with his two daughters: Rosa Virginia, María Gabriela and a recent Cuban newspaper (to show that it’s a current picture).

The first to share these photographs was the Minister of Science and Technology, Jorge Arreaza, who is the son-in-law of Chavez.

The Venezuelan Information Minister, Ernesto Villegas, issued new information to the people in that country about the health of their leader. He said that the President had difficulty speaking and was intubated but conscious, adding that he has been in constant communication with the Venezuelan government.

These are statements in addition to the ones that were made last Wednesday, where Nicolas Maduro, who is the Vice President of Venezuela, said that Hugo Chavez was undergoing treatments that are "hard and complex."

Hugo Chavez has been battling cancer since June of 2011.
