Xolos 2-0 Atlante... Tijuana tamed the horse

The border team proved they have lots of quality players for any moment of the season

TIJUANA, BC.- Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente returned to the victory's path after beating 2-0 the Atlante Potros de Hierro.

This match was played at Estadio Caliente as part of Week 8 of the 2013 Clausura tournament of the Liga MX.

The game

With the idea of giving rest to some of the starting players, Xolos' Coach Antonio Mohamed, decided to change his 4-4-3 formation and convert it to a 4-4-2 lineup with some young blood.

Cirilo Sauced was on the field as the goalkeeper; with Joshua Abrego, Pablo Cesar Aguilar, Alfredo Gonzalez Tahuilan and Juan Carlos Nuñez as defenders; in the midfield Noe Maya and Jorge Hernandez started as defensive midfielder with Diego Olsina was left wing and Richard Ruiz as right wing. In the front Alfredo "Chango" Moreno and Raul Enriquez would try to score.

This new formation gave up results quick because at the 2 minute mark Abrego was able to give a pass from the middle of the field to Olsina, who would run to the goal line to cross the ball to Enriquez, who headed the ball into net. Xolos was easily winning 1-0 already.

The goal came in as a big shock to Atlante; the team was not able to do anything dangerous at the front for at least 10 minutes. But they started to shake off the bad moment and begun to attack the goal protected by Saucedo.

Cirilo Saucedo itself was the main protagonist of two good plays by the visitors, but the keeper was always concentrated and was able to deflect the ball away from his goal.

The first half ended up with a Xolos team controlling the ball, with lots of passes between the players and Atlante going mad.

The second goal from Xolos came from a pass from Olsina, who gave the ball to Duvier Riascos -the forward came in as substitute of Enriquez on the second half-; the Colombian dribbled the ball between his leg to leave the goalkeeper behind for the 2-0.

The referee ended up the game with 3 more points for the border squad.

Next week Xolos will receive the visit of San Jose Oruro from Bolivia, on Week 2 of the 2013 Copa Libertadores; after the international match, the team will travel to Guadalajara to play against Atlas Zorros.
