Twinkies Make a Comeback

It will return thousands of lost jobs back onto the market

Twinkies will make a comeback to retail outlets by this summer, after Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co were declared the winners of the Hostess auction, and who will now have the rights to these famous name brand products.

Dean Metropoulos, founder of one of the organizations confirmed the news and said that they were excited about this new stage of the company, where many people will benefit from this because it will return thousands of lost jobs and also one of the favorite pastries of consumers back on the market.

It was expected that the bankruptcy court would auction off the company on Thursday, but Hostess said Monday afternoon that Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Co were one of the very few companies were present at the auction who met the requirements for the acquisition, which the transaction has an estimated value of $ 410 million dollars.

Wonder Bread, Twinkies and Ding Dongs are all just a few of the products that went out of production in November 2012, after the company declared that it would file for bankruptcy. Right after this news, many consumers went into panic buying mode to purchase this product paying up to $100 for a box of Twinkies.

Since then many names emerged for its purchase, including the Mexican bakery giant Grupo Bimbo, who later on was out of the competition due to its already big presence in the U.S. market.
