Xolos' Edgar Castillo will be using a protective mask

The player had a face fracture

SAN DIEGO, CA.- The U.S. international and Xoloitzcuitle left back Edgar Castillo will be required to wear a protective mask when playing on the field. Castillo is recuperating well from a surgery in the face after suffering a triple fracture.

The New Mexico native suffered this injury in a collision with Atlas defender Leonardo Cufre. Castillo continued to play and finished out that game in which Club Tijuana loss 1-0 in the Estadio Jalisco in week nine of the Liga MX.

Castillo is already practicing, although separated from the rest of the team. He hopes that with the protective mask he'll be allowed to fully participate with the team in practice.

"I was left out two weeks, and I feel fine now. Can't wait to be back out there" said Castillo.

He hopes to be ready to go this week "I hope to ready for Toluca, even though our main focus is the Copa Libertadores"

About his injury and the mask Castillo said "it would have take more time if they'd put in a metal plate. Thankfully they didn't and and back in less than three weeks.

Xolos' next game will be a championship rematch against Toluca in the Estadio Nemezio Diez this next Saturday, March 30 at 4:00 PM Pacific Time. This game will be for week 12 of the Liga MX.
