Reactions from the Xolos vs Santos match

Players talked about what's next for them

SAN DIEGO, CA.- Here is this week's carousel of reactions from the Xolos vs Santos match. This week we have US International Hercules Gomez and Marc Crosas from Santos. Both of these players were in the starting lineup for Santos but did not finish the game. Unlike the two Xolos participants Cirilo Saucedo and Fernando Arce who played the full 90 minutes on Saturday night in spite of having played 90 minutes on Wednesday night in Bolivia and endured a 16 hour trip home.

Hercules Gomez mentioned that he is never happy with a draw, but that it is always difficult to play as the visiting team to such a strong squad. He believes his team did what was necessary to walk away without a defeat and that the draw was a fair result.

"That's the way football is, this was always going to be a complicated and intense game. These are the two most recent champions of Mexican soccer. Your never happy with a draw, but the team did enough to survive this difficult visit, and the draw is the fair result"

Marc Crosas already has his mind set on this Tuesday's match against Seattle Sounders in the CONCACAF Champion's League. He mentioned how great it would be to participate in his second FIFA Club World Cup, but that first they must get through the Seattle squad.

"Yes it would be my second World Cup of Clubs, but that is still a ways away. We first must consolidate the job that we started in Seattle. Then focus on the final, whether its a rematch against Monterrey or against Los Angeles Galaxy it doesn't matter."

Xolos goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo mentioned how the team is still playing quality football and that the wins will start to come back. He said that the team must now put this draw behind them and focus on Wednesday night's Copa Libertadores match.

"The team played really well tonight. We had several goal scoring opportunities, it just seemed like the ball didn't want to go in. If we keep up this work the victories will start to come back. Now we must start thinking about Wednesday's game so we can keep fighting both tournaments."

And finally Fernando Arce sent out a message for which ever of his teammates gets selected to play against Millonarios on Wednesday night in the Copa Libertadores. He said that a win is important so the team can get a better seed going into the next round.

"Everyone wants to play in the Copa Libertadores. So whoever does end up playing, they'll play their hearts out and fight with great intensity in search of that victory."
