7 month old baby subpoenaed to court

She was "a witness"

Although it sounds totally crazy, a prosecutor from the Mexican state of Queretaro subpoenaed a 7 months old baby to testify in a court case, which the infant was "a witness" to an incident that occurred in her parents' home when she was only two months old.

Maria del Carmen Carrera Samperio is the head of the public prosecutor's office in that municipality, and cited the girl to court on April 12th at 1:00 pm.

In order to comply and avoid any type of legal penalties- which could be a fine of up to 30 days of minimum wage- her parents took her to agency's office.

Here is part of what the subpoenaed said:

"In case of failure to appear on the day and hour without just cause, measures of enforcement shall apply against you that are authorized under Article 102 in the Penal Code of Procedures for the State, that include a fine equal to 30 days of minimum wage or, if necessary, forced to appear with the help of law enforcement authorities."

This type of subpoenaed is very common as well as it sanctions, but the most intriguing thing is that this was directed to a child who many wonder how or what will she even add to the case?
