Journalists sons murdered by hitmen

These attacks are "concerning"

Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. - Two young men, who are the sons of Mexican journalists David Paramo and Martha Nicholson, were shot dead in the early morning today in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, by unknown hitmen, said local authorities.

The victims have been identified as Alfredo David Paramo, 20, and Diego Alejandro Paramo, 21, informed the Attorney General of Chihuahua (PGJCh).

Early versions of the crime is that both young men were shot as they drove in a vehicle in the Arboledas neighborhood near the capital city in the Chihuahua, said Carlos Gonzalez to EFE, who is a spokesman for the Attorney General of Chihuahua.

The source explained that the young men are the children of the editor of the newspaper "El Peso", Martha Nicholson and David Paramo, host of the radio station talk show " No tires tu dinero" (Don't throw your money away), and also a column writer for the newspaper "Excelsior."

The spokesman said that the murder is not related to the professional activities of their parents.

Mexican politicians and journalists have also sympathized with the couple after hearing the news through social networks like Twitter.

"With affection we accompany you in your pain to David Paramo for the loss of your two children, victims of the violence afflicting our country," wrote the president of the Mexican political party "PAN", Gustavo Madero.

On March 4, also in the state of Chihuahua, the journalist Jaime Gonzalez Dominguez was shot while he was in a restaurant.

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) has said that these attacks are "concerning" and added that since the year 2000 to date, 84 journalists have been killed in Mexico.
