Xolos head coach Antonio Mohamed will be leaving the team

He confirms his departure in a press conference

MEXICO. - Xolos head coach, Antonio Mohamed, in a press conference at the airport in Mexico City, said he will be leaving the team after the Copa Libertadores tournament is over, due to family reasons.

"I will finish off my contract with Tijuana, so when our participation in Libertadores ends, I’m going to leave the team, my players already know this. There is no other team, and I’m not leaving because of any other offers. It’s just that I miss my family and going back to Argentina. It's a decision that I have made and I do not want to talk about this issue," said Mohamed.

The Mexican soccer champions just accomplished one more feat, which was eliminating the Palmeiras in Sao Paulo, and with this came many more offers for Mohamed from soccer clubs in Argentina, plus one or two Mexican clubs, but the decision of "El Turco" to leave Mexico is firm.

Since his arrival in 2011, Mohamed brought along with him courage, confidence, strength, humility and good soccer to the team and through a good streak that saved the Xolos and led them to playoffs, where they were able to capture a championship. And to top it off, he led them to Copa Libertadores and Concachampions all within just a year and a half.

There is no doubt that Mohamed will always be a legend in Tijuana, and will always be remembered fondly. He is leaving with the door wide open for the possibility of returning in the not too distant future.
