150,000 visitors expected at The Tijuana Book Fair

A parade of letters at the CECUT

With a very attractive offer, plus a tribute to Jose Guadalupe Posada, comfortable spaces, 140 book launches, 152 exhibitors and an expected 150,000 visitors, the 31st edition of the Tijuana Book Fair will be taking place from June 7 to the 16.

The Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) opens its doors to the wonderful world of letters, to make them a great feast to the rhythm of poetry, short stories, narratives and readings that will give a different taste to the border.

Elsa Arnaiz, director of the Institute for Art and Culture (IMAC), said this year the increase in resources is greater much greater because of the size of the Cecut’s facilities, which the use of certain areas, it will make this book fair an even better one.

It is expect that there will be three rooms for 140 book presentations, three pavilions, two for children and one for teens. And hundreds of publishers who will be offering their books at discounts of 10%, 20% and 30% off.

The Fair will welcome renowned authors like Margo Glantz, Juan Banuelos, Enrique Florescano, Vicente Quitarte, and more than 200 writers among others.

Prior to the start of this upcoming book fair, on Friday May 31 the CECUT will be presenting the exhibition by Rogelio Cuellar "El rostro de las letras" (The face of the letters), which is composed of portraits from contemporary Latin American writers. This event will begin at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Museum of the Californias located in the CECUT.

Also on Friday may 31, Luis Humberto Crosthwaite who is a writer from Tijuana, will be honored at the multipurpose hall of the cultural center at 8 p.m.

Participating also in the Tijuana Book Fair will be the African art rhythms of the World Beat Center from San Diego, Saoko group, Madame UR and her men, Cristina Créme and the Tijuana Opera among others.

Performing at the inauguration at this event will be Horacio Franco and Victor Flores with "De Bach a los Beatles" (From Bach to the Beatles) in the forecourt of the CECUT at 10 p.m.

The Tijuana Book Fair will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., from June 7 to the 16. All activities at this event will be free.
