Maritza Diaz sent a video message to Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, prompting him to own up to his responsibilities and obligations regarding their son, whom she says that he has not seen for 17 months now.

In the video message, Maritza states that she had a relationship with Peña Nieto for 9 years and that the now President of Mexico, use to be more concerned for the child. And although their relationship was not a close one, it was at least some sort of son and father relationship.

According to Diaz, there have now been several lawsuits that have been filed against Enrique Peña Nieto, but all them have culminated in favor of the President. Diaz also said that she has for a long time remained silent about the matter, but due to the severe and prolonged time that this situation has taken to be resolved, she has now chosen to use social networks to demand justice for her son.

"Enrique, I'm asking for five minutes of your time for you to devote to the welfare of your son. I want to tell you that I'm open to talk, to reconcile, and to come to an agreement. You have publicly spoken about being in favor of dialogue and of communication. Why not do it for our son who is a defenseless and innocent being? One who also loves you, and who you have told that you love him too. It's now been 17 months that you have not seen him, and Diego misses you, "says Maritza Diaz at the end of the video.

The relationship between Enrique Peña Nieto and Maritza Diaz had already been controversial. During the 2012 presidential campaign, the image of Peña Nieto was used for an advertising campaign for the Ashley Madison website which promotes extramarital affairs.
