TIJUANA B.C. - The brand new synthetic grass at the Estadio Caliente home of Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuitles was presented today through their Sporting Director Ignacio Palou.
The club director informed that the grass was about 80-85% complete. The duo color is still noticeable as it alternates between yellow and green similar to natural grass.
"It is made of the latest fibers. This style is used in MLS but with older versions. It is duo colored, and the ball will run differently than the last grass. The older grass came with the lines already painted on while this one we'll have to paint them" said Palou.
On July 2nd FIFA will inspect and authorize the field. Palou expects that there will be absolutely no problems with the FIFA authorization since the company that is installing the grass as well as the materials used are all approved by the maximum agency of the sport.
"July 2 will be when we get the FIFA certification. This new technology will help the drainage system and make the grass look more real" said the Sporting Director.m
He mentioned that even though the technology keeps advancing the opposing team managers will always use the artificial grass as an excuse. Even though players will be more happy with this grass than the last.
"Players will be happier, even though visiting managers will keep using it as an excuse. Surely "Tuca" (Ricardo Feretti) will still be mad" concluded Palou.
