Mayoral candidate supports Startups in Tijuana

So that local talent will not be wasted

The candidate for mayor of Tijuana for the alliance "Compromiso por Baja California" (Commitment to Baja California), Jorge Astiazaran, said that his plan as Mayor includes the support towards digital entrepreneurs, better known as "startups".

To date, there have been three "Startup Weekends" in Tijuana, where in this three-day event, professionals from different areas form teams to create new products or services, which the idea in this is for these teams to create an enterprise that could function as an organization.

The best recent example of this type of practice in Tijuana in this area is "3D Robotics", who is one of the most successful organizations in this city that manufactures drones both in Tijuana and San Diego with local engineers.

Astiazaran said there would be an agreement made with the BIT Center in Tijuana, which after a certain time period, certain projects would be evaluated to transform them into formal enterprises that would be supported by his administration for the necessary paperwork and other types of counseling. Thus, the entrepreneur would have the necessary support and advice from specialists in technology.

Astiazaran stressed that the innovations in the city, within the technological area, should remain in Tijuana and not be incorporated with foreign companies, so that local talent will not be wasted.

At this press conference Jorge Astiazaran was accompanied by his wife, Elia Manjarrez, as he explained his plan for the city to the local media, of what he would do if he becomes the next Mayor for the city of Tijuana.
