Meet the new Xolos: Emanuel Cerda

Debuted with Tigres, played in Peru, and has tons of quality.

TIJUANA - Emanuel Cerda is coming from a not so good season with Puebla where we didn't see too much playing time. He is one of the fastest players in Mexico playing down the wing, and could be that superb sub for Xolos when a change in rhythm is needed.

He made his professional debut with Tigres on April 1, 2006 when he was only 19 years old. He spent four years with this club scoring six goals in 68 matches.

He would then try his luck outside of Mexico, playing for Universitario de Deportes in Peru in 2010. He played a total of 628 minutes during nine matches, he was subbed out on five occasions, and could not score a goal.

He returned to Mexico in 2011 to play for Toluca where he had a good season scoring five goals in the season in spite of not being a starter. He played 20 games for Toluca, 14 of those coming off the bench and making an impact. Something he'll try to do once again in Tijuana.

His good season did not go unnoticed by Tigres who still owned him, he was called back from loan to play for them. Cerda was unable to perform for the club he doubted, and only got to play 150 minutes all season scoring only one goal. He was once again let go, this time heading to San Luis. His ability to take on defenders really impressed, he played 564 minutes and scored one on goal for San Luis.

His latest adventure came in Puebla where he was unable to convince manager Manuel Lapuente of his abilities. He only played 55 minutes all season, and not many Puebla fans even remember Cerda being there.
