TIJUANA - Yair Urbina was originally brought in for Dorados de Sinaloa, but he is now doing preseason training with Tijuana Xolos. The Xoloitzcuintles want to make sure they are cover in the goalkeeping position after their start goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo suffered a left shoulder injury while training with the Mexican national team.
Yair Urbina was bought by Dorados de Sinaloa during the DRAFT, he will play with the double registration that the Mexican federation allows for affiliate teams in first and second division. Urbina will begin the new season in competition with Adrian Zermeño who in theory should be the starting goalkeeper with Saucedos absence.
Urbina is 30 years of age and played last season with Veracruz, before that he was an important piece with Neza all in Mexicos second division.
Good reactions, maturity, and security in cutting off crosses is what Urbina is know for. Hell be getting his third opportunity at first division soccer in Mexico after having gone through Tigres and Morelia.
