USMNT vs Cuba: The Yanks looking to continue scoring ways

The USMNT will look to ride their good form into the next round of the Gold Cup.

SANDY, UT - Twelve goals in two games for this United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) squad; six goals in a friendly against Guatemala and six more against Belize on the opening game of the Gold Cup. They’ll be looking for another big win over Cuba to secure their place in the next round of the Gold Cup.

There will be no surprise if the USMNT picks up another six goals, or more in this match. The Cuban National Team is not one of the confederation’s strongest side, and is usually on a short squad in these types of competitions. Cuba has had the problem in previous tournaments that their players abandon the team for a chance to stay in the United States for political reason. Until now there have been no reports of any Cuban player leaving, and should have a full squad at game time; but that could all change any given minute.

The Cubans are coming into this game following the 3-0 loss to Costa Rica. They must get at least the draw if they want to still have a chance of making it to the quarterfinals on the final game of the group.

With a win the USMNT will secure the top spot in Group C of the Gold Cup and a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The game is scheduled for 12:30PM local time in the Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah home of Real Salt Lake.

Possible Lineup:

USMNT: Nick Rimando, Michael Orozco, Michael Parkhurst, Clarence Goodson, Damarcus Beasley, Joe Corona, Kyle Beckerman, Jose Torres, Herculez Gomez, Landon Donovan, Chris Wondolowski

Cuba: Odelín Molina, Renay Malblanche, Alianne Urgelles Montoya, Jorge L. Clavelo, Jorge L. Corrales, Joel Colomé, Ariel Martinez Gonzáles, Alberto Gómez, Jaime Colomé Valencia, Yenier Márquez, Yoandir Puga Estevez
