Dario Benedetto: "I have to adapt myself as quickly as possible"

The newest member of the Tijuana Xolos spoke today after the practice.

TIJUANA - Following the 1-1 draw against their second division affiliate Dorados de Sinaloa, Tijuana Xolos continue their preparations for week one of the new Liga MX season which will be next Friday at the Estadio Caliente.

After a practice under the intense heat of the sun in Tijuana the newest Xolo Dario Benedetto spoke to members of the press. Benedetto has participated in the final two preseason games, coming in a substitute in both.

Benedetto expressed the need to adapt himself as quickly as possible to his new home due to the tough internal competition due to the quality of his new teammates.

"It will be a tough fighting for a spot in the starting lineup, there are two or three top forwards here. Plus there are still a few players who have not arrived yet. I'll need to adapt myself as quickly as possible in order to be ready for whatever the coach needs" commented the young Argentine forward.

During the last two preseason games the new manager Jorge Almiron has tried different formations. One includes the usual three forwards with one center striker and two wide forwards, the other uses two strikers up top. Benedetto mentioned how he has felt comfortable in either system of play.

"I feel comfortable in either formation, playing as striker. I also like to play in the wider positions. Whatever the boss wants from me" said "Pipa" Benedetto.

Finally he talked about the sacrifice soccer player have to make at times leaving their families behind in order to advance their careers, but that he'll have the support of his girlfriend who will make the move from Argentina to Tijuana.

"It's very difficult to be away from your family, but that is what happens in the world of soccer. Thankfully my girlfriend will be by my side, she arrives in Tijuana tomorrow. But this whole being away from the family is just another aspect of the game you have to adapt to" finalized Benedetto.
