USMNT vs Honduras: One win away form golden final

The United States is the clear favorite

DALLAS - The 2013 Gold Cup has reached the semifinals stage, and the United Sates Men's National Team (USMNT) with a spectacular style has become the heavy favorites to win this competition. In the penultimate round they will face Honduras.

The Americans have had a perfect tournament so far; four games and four wins. They started out with a 6-1 victory over Belize, followed by a 4-1 victory over Cuba, they closed out the group stage with a 1-0 win over Costa Rica, and in the quarterfinals they got passed El Salvador with a score of 5-1.

Honduras also begun with a win, they beat Hati 2-0 in the opening game. They then had some trouble but ended up beating El Salvador with a 1-0 score. Honduras then suffered a 1-0 loss to Trinidad & Tobago, in the quarterfinals stage the got the 1-0 win over Central American rivals Costa Rica.

USMNT have shown a spectacular form with loads of goals, Tijuana Xolos players Joe Corona and Edgar Castillo have been fundamental in this squad. Corona has become the link between the midfield and the attackers' while Castillo is always a threat going forward from his defensive position.

Honduras will not have their usual stars; Osman Cgavez and Andy Najar are the only recognizable players in this Honduras squad. But they should not be underestimated as the "catrachos" have always managed to complicate things for the region's biggest teams.

The match is scheduled for Wednesday July 24 at 6:00PM local time (4:00PM pacific) from the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Honduras: Donis Escobar; Osman Chávez, Bryan Beckeles, Juan García, Rony Martínez; Nery Medina, Andy Najar, Alexander López, Marvin Chávez, Jorge Claros; Edder Delgado.
