Tijuana, BC – With some unesessary suffering in the final minutes of the match due to the visiting team’s pressure on attack, Club Tjuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente were victorious 1-0, over the visiting Tuzos of Pachuca. In this young campaing of the MX Leage, Tijuana gets the first win. The match was played in Tijuana’s Caliente Stadium, to an almost full capacity crowd.

Summary of the game:

Xolos started attacking since the first second of the game. Dario Benedetto, the new star striker had two good goal opportunities and only four minutes had gone by. Oscar “El Conejo” Perez was being blasted by the xolos, but there was no goal.

Five minutes later, one of the most exciting plays of the game would occur, when Diego Olsina shot a corner kick. The visiting team’s goal keeper Perez was able to make contact with the ball giving it a different direction, but a dangerous one because it was sent directly to Fidel Martinez, who attempted a chilena, which hit the post.

The rapid start of the game gave way to a fast decrease in intensity.

Club Pachuca forgot about the game in the first half. They had no shots on goal, despite having three corner kicks to their favor.

The Second half was another story. Xolos made their effort from the first half count by scoring 3 minutes into the game. Fernando Arce completed a free kick that ended up in Martinez’s foot who quickly saw his team mate Olsina had a better position and gave him the ball for him to strike across the goal line .This was Olsina’s first goal in first division soccer.

Minute 59 came around, and “El Guti” Estrada attempted to emulate what “Hachita “ Ludueña accomplished last week with a kick that was behind the first quarter of the field. The ball was hit with such force, that it hit the upper goal post, came down inside the goal line, ad went back outside to the field.

I saw it in instant replay and the ball was real fast, so no real fault goes to Jose Luis Camargo, the line judge.

No players from the visiting team protested, so the game went on.

When Cesar Ramos, the Referee during this match ended the the match, Club Pachuca desperately looked for the tying goal but did not get it. Tijuana’s Goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo was tested during this period of time, and he passed the test. Tijuana had the opportunity to end the game by scoring two other goals by counter attacks, but both attempts failed.

Next Saturday August 3rd, Club Tijuana will visit the beautiful city of Morelia to play the Monarchs, while Club Pachuca will receive Club Leon.
