LA Galaxy vs Real Madrid: Time to forget local MLS and have some fun

Galaxy will play against three European teams in international friendly tournament.

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Galaxy will want to forget their inconsistent play during the local MLS league games where it seems they win one and lose the next. Galaxy will now play in the "Guinness International Champions Cup" where they will face off against three teams from Europe starting with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The LA Galaxy vs Real Madrid game is scheduled for tomorrow Thursday August 1 at 7:30PM from the University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix Arizona. San Diego Red will have all of the coverage.

The Galaxy side is coming off of a 2-0 loss to Colorado Rapids in MLS league play. These next few games should give the LA players a chance to shake off the MLS pressures and have a little fun playing against some of the best players in the world.

For the game against Real Madrid, Galaxy will still be without some of their key players. Omar Gonzalez, Landon Donovan and Juninho will be part of the MLS All-Star team taking on AS Roma in Kansas City; while Robbie Kean and Robbie Rodgers are still recuperating from injuries. It is expected that Galaxy manager Bruce Arena will continue to give the youth players some playing time to establish playing alternatives for the closing months of the MLS season and the beginning of the CONCACAF Champion's League.

Real Madrid is in mid preseason and their new manager Carlo Anchellotti has barely begun to work with the team. Madrid will have their big name stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Castillas, and more available. But expect lots of substitutions during the course of the match.
