American soldiers hired as gunmen for Mexican Cartels

Pay grade ranges from $5,000 to $50,000 dollars

Up until now, three American soldiers have been involved in three different murders in which have been tied to Mexican cartels.

In 2009 one such murder was ordered by the Juarez Cartel, committed by 22 year old Michael Apodaca. Apodaca belonged to the ranks of the united states army, being a corporal of the air force during the time he committed the crime. This cartel payed him $5,000 dollars to murder an informant by the name of Jose Daniel Gonzalez Galeana, who at one point was part of the criminal organization.

For this crime the corporal was sentenced to life in prison.

Another soldier, Kevin Corley a 29 year old Lieutenant on active duty from Fort Carson Colorado, was part of Los Zetas, and has been found guilty of attempted murder in a Texas court.

Along with the Lieutenant, they arrested 28 year old Sergeant Samuel Walker, He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for Homicide.

Walker and Corley where caught after they got in touch with an undercover DEA Agent, an agent they thought was part of Los Zetas.

After a long negotiation, Corley agreed to kill under the command of Los Zetas in exchange for $50,000 dollars and Cocaine.

Its presumed that there are a lot more members of the military that "switch sides" and decide to join the ranks of the Cartels, but at the same time there are many more that are already members and join the military ranks to receive military training.

The recruitment of American soldiers is a tactic, due to the fact that they're already American citizens and can cross the border freely, no to mention the rigorous military training that they've received.

The problem between Mexican Cartels has existed for years and perhaps will continue for ages, however, the recruitment of soldiers is something more recent.

According to the FBI database, since April 2011, it has been determined that at least 53 gang members once belonged to the ranks of American Armed Forces. They've also found evidence that many of them are or have been members of the Mexican Cartels, not to mention deserters.

It is believed that they are responsible for gun and drug trafficking, kidnapping on both sides of the border, money laundering, murder as well as other violent crimes.
