Tijuana Xolos vs Luis Angel Firpo: The start of a new international competition

Tijuana Xolos will begin their participation in the CONCACAF Champion's League.

USULUTAN, EL SALVADOR – Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles will begin their second international competition; the CONCACAF Champion's League (CCL) with an away match in El Salvador against Club Deportivo Luis Angel Firpo. Tijuana Xolos were inches away from a historic semifinal berth in South America's Copa Libertadores; and now will keep reaching for glory in North America.

C.D. Luis Angel Firpo vs Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles is scheduled for Tuesday August 6 at 7:00PM pacific time from the Estadio Cuscatlan.

The Xolos have had an irregular start to the season in the local Liga Bancomer MX league with a home draw, home win and an away loss. New manager Jorge Almiron still has not got a complete handle on the team, and this is showing especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Xolos will be carrying the "favorite" tag in the group seven which they both share with Club Deportivo Victoria of Honduras. The Xoloitzcuintles already know what it is like to play away games in places like Brazil against some of the best players in the world like Ronaldinho, Pato, and many more; but the hostile away environment in Central America is a completely different story which the Xolos will have to quickly adjust.

C.D. Luis Angle Firpo is the reigning champion in El Salvador and has started the new Apertura 2013 season with a 1-1 draw at home against Aguila. The match against Tijuana Xolos will be their second official game of the season for the Salvadorians.
