Xolos practice in the Cuscatlan stadium

Joe Corona and Emmanuel Cerda spoke with San Diego Red correspondent Victor Zelada in El Salvador.

San Diego Red continues its exclusive coverage from our correspondent in El Salvador Victor Zelada who was present today at the Tijuana Xolos practice in the Cuscatlan stadium where Joe Corona and Emmanuel Cerda sopke with him.

Naturally Joe Corona is going to be the highlight of the Xolos squad for the local El Salvadorians due to his mother being a native of the Central American country, and the fact that Corona faced El Salvador in the Gold Cup which he won with the U.S. Men's National Team.

"We're taking this very seriously, we came here to do our jobs and to win. We still have a bitter taste in our mouths from the Copa Libertadores elimination and are looking to erase that here" said Corona when asked what are the expectations for the club in the CONCACAF Champion's League.

Emmanuel Cerda will be participating in his first international tournament with the Tijuana Xolos and is very excited. He spoke about what will make the Xolos stand out this season. "The diffrence will be in our will to win, our will to win the competitions, and our will to win every game. Thatis what people will be talking about when they speak of Xolos" expressed Cerda.

With regards to their rival both Corona and Cerda agreed that the fact that Firpo will be at home is enough for the Xolos to not take them for granted. But both confessed they knew very little of their next opponent.

"We know they are the champions and the best team in El Salvador and that we will be in their house. It will not be easy" said Corona.

"We haven't really talked about them, we haven't watched any videos of them. But they are the champions for a reason, they must have some quality players and playing in their home ground will surely be difficult" finalized Cerda.
