LA Galaxy 0-2 AC Milan: Galaxy finishes in fourth place

AC Milan were too powerful for the Galaxy.

MIAMI – The Los Angeles Galaxy ended their participation in the Guinness International Champions Cup (GICC) with a 0-2 loss to Italian AC Milan. With the loss the Galaxy finish this eight team tournament in forth place while the "Rossoneri" take the third place finish.

Both sides presented close to first choice lineups, but the Italians outclassed the Los Angeles side. AC Milan pressure caused the Galaxy to miss play many passes in midfield and defense. All of that pressure paid dividends in the 17th minute when a missed play pass in midfield led to the first goal of the night. The ball was quickly played to Mario Balotelli who shielded the ball from Omar Gonzalez and had a quick shot that beat the goalkeeper.

Galaxy came close equalizing in the 35th minute with a long distance strike from Juninho. The Milan goalkeeper made the huge safe and the Landon Donovan rebound was cleared to a corner kick.

Five minutes later Milan doubled their lead after some weak pressure after a Milan throw in on the right wing of the field; 18 year old Mbyaye Ninang received the ball from the throw in, turn towards the middle of the field and had a left foot shot top the far post of the keeper and found the bottom corner of the goal.

Both teams mad plenty of substitutions for the second half, this cased the game's rhythm to fall. Milan sat back and prevented the Galaxy from getting back into the game. The Italians had a few chances off of counter attacks but did not manage to add to the score.

El Shaarawy got played a long cross field pass and was in on goal, but when he had his shot the Galaxy defender had managed to make up ground and return to block the shot.

Scary moment in the game was when the first goal scorer of the game Mario Balotelli went down after having played a long pass. There was no contact with a Galaxy player but, Bolotelli still went down in pain. Everyone's nightmare was knee ligaments, but it turned out to just be muscle cramps. Bolotelli was immediately subbed out in the 79th minute.

The Los Angeles Galaxy will now travel to Dallas, Texas where they will face FC Dallas on Saturday night in their return to action in the MLS.
