Caro Quintero slips through the grasp of the United States

Mexico grants his immediate release

The man identified in the 80s as the "Narco de Narcos" (Lord of Druglords), Rafael Caro Quintero, will be released after amnesty was given to him where a Federal court in Jalisco regarding penal prosecution ordered his immediate release.

The news was given to Quintero early in the morning at the Jalisco penitentiary where he has been serving his time behind bars for the past 28 years.

Amnesty was granted to him (a request made in march) after the First Collegiate Court in the matters of Penal Prosecution in Jalisco determined that Caro Quintero should not have been prosecuted in the Federal Charter for the murder of DEA agent, Enrique Camarena Salazar, which occurred in 1985 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where he should have been judged in the common charter, seeing as the victim was neither a diplomat or a member of the United States Embassy.

The United States was requesting his extradition because of this crime, but it was never granted because the Supreme Justice Court of the Nation (SCJN) only avails temporary extraditions, but not in the cases where Mexicans could face the death penalty, given that the legislation in Mexico fights for the right to live and the United states wanted the extradition in order to give him the death sentence.

Caro Quintero was born October 3rd 1952 en the Noria Badiraguato, Sinaloa and together with Miguel Angel Felix Galladro and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo "Don Neto" they founded the Guadalajara Cartel, due to this he was given the nickname "Narco de Narcos".

It is rumored that Caro Quintero used to bribe officials with cars rather than cash and it was why the Grand Marquis grew popular in the 80s.

Caro Quintero will be set free within the next few hours as for the time being his freedom is being processed in accordance to the law.

What's your opinion on the freedom given to the "Lord of Druglords"?
