"El Hongo", Social Reinsertion Center from Baja California is acknowledged by the US

The enclosure meets international quality standards

Daniel de la Rosa, Secretary of Security in Baja California announced last monday a new achievement for the state of Baja California. During a brief statement he published on social networks:

"It is official, this afternoon in Maryland, United States, The American Correctional Association (ACA) has bestowed the governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan, an acknowledgment for the Social Reinsertion Center "El Hongo II", for having met the international quality standards, transforming this Center as state of the art penitentiary and raising it's levels when it comes to security, order, health care, social reinsertion programs, justice, human rights, administration, management and staff training, among other aspects. The American Correctional Association is an organization that was founded in 1870 and their acknowledgments are the equivalent of what CALEA is to police departments. Yet another achievement obtained by society's participation and support in Baja California. We shall keep up the good work".

The Secretary, accompanied the governor of Baja California to Maryland to receive the international award. This achievement is just one of many that have been obtained during Jose Guadalupe Millan's time in office, who will step down and hand over the position of governor of Baja California to Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid at the end of his period in late 2013.
