LLWS: Panama 0-13 Mexico, Tijuana Municipal knocks out again

The Tijuana team wins second consecutive game in Williamsport.

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The hot bats of the Tijuana Municipal team which is representing all of Mexico in the 2013 Little League World Series (LLWS) kept swinging today and once again got a knockout victory this time by a score of 13-0 over Panama in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Tijuana took the win through four homeruns and a grandslam.

With this result the team from Aguadulce, Panama is now eliminated from the LLWS and will play a consolation game on Wednesday, while Tijuana is now awaiting a rival for the next round.

The Tijuana power was shown right from the ‘get go’, the first batter to step into the box Brandon Montes hit a homerun to open up the scoring and give the Mexican team the early 1-0 lead.

The nerves ate the Panamanian team alive, still in the first inning an error by second baseman Jose Gonazalez allowed Martin Gonzalez to score the second run for Tijuana.

In the second inning a spectacular grandslam by Ramon Mendoza brought home Montes, Gonzalez and Jorge Rodriguez to make the score 6-0.

The Tijuana batters did not give their opponents a second to breath; after a Saul Favela single and the Panamanian pitcher Rafael Eysseric hitting Jorge Romero with the pitch, Luis Manzo stepped up and hit a double to right field bringing home Favela to make the score 7-0.

In the third inning two homeruns brought in three runs to add to the scoreboard. First Martin Gonzalez blasted the ball past the center field wall. Then with Alexander Artalefo on base, Favela sent the ball deep to left field to make the score 10-0.

In the forth inning a double by Gonzalez brought home Brandon Meza to score the 11th run. Mendoza then would hit a two-run homerun to make the score 13-0.

In the end four homeruns and a grandslam was too much for the Panamanian team to handle and Tijuana becomes the highest scoring team so far in this LLWS. Luis Manzo also had a good game on the mound allowing only one hit and one walk.

Tijuana will now play on Wednesday against the winner between Asia Pacific and Japan which is scheduled for later today (Sunday).
