Celebrate Mexican Independence Day in San Diego

Local radio station has been organizing the event for 15 years.

SAN DIEGO – In contrast to what some Americans believe Mexican Independence Day is not "Cinco de Mayo" (5th of May); but September 16, with the traditional day of the shout one day prior. And despite the fact that this is not Mexican territory you can find the celebration here with great passion; maybe even more euphoric due to the nostalgia of the mother land.

The local radio stations La Nueva 106.5 and Recuerdo 102.9; both part of Univision Radio have been organizing the patriotic celebrations for 15 years now. They offer concerts and the traditional shout of independence conducted by the Mexican consulate in San Diego.

On the official Mexican consulate web page you'll find so the Mexican people in San Diego can join them in giving the independence shout.

The event is being hosted in the Embarcadero behind the Convention Center in downtown; it is completely free to the public. It will get under way at 12:00 noon and conclude at 6:00PM.

People who assist this free event will be able to enjoy live music from Larry Hernandez, Horoscopos de Durango, Los Elegidos, Mariachi Divas, Explosion Norteña, and of course the traditional independence shout.

Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy free concerts being put together by La Nueva 106.5 and Recuerdo 102.9 and to scream VIVA MEXICO!
