Over 100,000 people joined the celebration of the Mexican Independence in Tijuana

A night of traditional dancing, Mexican cuisine, small shops and fireworks

Last night the Mayor of Tijuana, Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, led the commemorative ceremony of the 203 Anniversary of the Cry of Independence, and over 112,000 people joined the festivities that took place in the city offices, to honor the traditions that are uniquely Mexican, with music, folklore and Culture.

In the event, which took place in the Mexico Monument, Mayor Carlos Bustamante received the flag by elements of the Mexican Military, then headed to the stand and gave the traditional speech given all across the country in front of over 40,000 event goers.

"Citizens of Tijuana, long live Hidalgo, long live Morelos, long live Allende, long live Aldana, long live Abasolo, long live the Mexicans who gave us our independence, long live Mexico!" was the cry the Mayor proclaimed.

The festivities due to the Homeland Holidays 2013, opened their doors at 4:00 o'clock sharp, so that all the citizens would be able to participate and enjoy of the diverse musical program, as well traditional dances, and culminated in a live performance by Sonora Dinamita, which thousands of citizens of Tijuana enjoyed.

The festival also had the traditional Mexican dishes, small shops selling all kinds of wares, and the fireworks which lit up the night sky in an evening of color and patriotism, which took place with total order and civility.

For the 3rd year in a row, the festival was transmitted live by "TV Tijuana, the communication channel" of the 20th town hall, which will celebrate it's second anniversary of uninterrupted transmission, which transmits daily on channel 119 (digital channel) on Cablemas.

With the purpose of safeguarding the event goers, the municipal government mounted a special task force in which elements of the city police participated in, taking care of public safety, as well as directing traffic to avoid any accidents due to streets closing; other elements that participated were Firemen, Civil protection and different emergency brigades.

During the Speech and formal act, the mayor was accompanied by the deputy chief of Security, Carlos Francisco Del Socorro Espadas Ceballos and the secretary of Municipal Government, Obed Silva Sanchez.
