Tijuana Xolos vs Cruz Azul: Once and for all

Xoloitzcuintles have never been able to beat Cruz Azul.

TIJUANA - Club Tijuana will take on Cruz Azul at the Estadio Caliente; Xolos will be looking for their first win in club history over the Mexico City giants.

The match is scheduled for Friday, September 20 at 7:30PM local time from the Estadio Caliente stadium in Tijuana and will be part of the Week 11 Liga Bancomer MX Apertura season.

The last time Xolos faced Cruz Azul was during the Clausura 2013 season when Tijuana took a huge 5-0 loss in Mexico City. Previous results have been a 2-1 win for Cruz Azul and two draws 0-0 and 2-2. The Xoloitzcuintles will hope their good run at home will allow them to pick up their first win against one of Mexico’s most historic clubs.

Club Tijuana currently hold an eight game unbeaten streak that dates back to last season season and last season’s Copa Libertadores. Their superb form at home has allowed the xolos to remain within the fight for a playoff spot. They currently sit in 10th place only two points outside of the playoff zone.

Cruz Azul will want to get their season back on track after suffering their second straight home loss last weekend; this time to Tigres. They did manage to pick up a victory on the road in between those losses in Toluca and will want another in the border town to improve their position in the table.

Both clubs are currently participating in the CONCACAF Champion’s League but did not have any activity this week. Both teams will return to action next week in the continental tournament.
