MEXICO.- “Beyond it being personal, it is a grievance to the institutions of the country, given that they were done while I was President of the Republic” Felipe Calderon, former President of Mexico, stated yesterday in reference to the United States espionage he was a victim of, this was posted on his official Twitter account.

With four messages, Felipe Calderon protested against these acts, and pointed out that he will wait for the actions of he mexican government, adding that he will not make any further comments in regards to this matter.

It was this weekend when information leaked by Edward Snowden on the German Magazine “Der Spiegel” informed about the fact that the United States was spying on Felipe Calderon and his closest collaborators in 2010 when he was still President of Mexico. Back then the information being spied on was focused on getting to know the public safety strategy to be employed by the federal government, economic, diplomatic and safety relations.
