TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles’ horrendous away form which has allowed them two draws and five losses all season long has the team in a world of trouble as they try to reach the 8th place spot in the league for a playoff opportunity. This Friday night they will face Tigres at the Estadio Caliente and must get all three points in order to have realistic chances of reaching that 8th place spot in the final two games of the season.
Club Tijuana vs Tigres for the 15th match day of the Apertura 2013 season of the Liga Bancomer MX is scheduled for Friday October 25 at 7:30PM local time at the Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Baja California.
It has been the Xolos’ great form at home that still has them within a fighting chance of reaching the playoffs, and they’ll need every bit of the great run in form tomorrow night as the three points are crucial. At the moment Tijuana are sitting in 12th place in the league table with 17 points.
Their opponents Tigres are just one spot above them tied in points, but with a better goal difference and with one less game played; the week 2 matchup at home against Club America. Tigres will also be fighting for their own playoff hopes as they too need the three points at this stage of the competition.
Eighth place Chiapas FC is only 4 points away from both of these teams, a point difference which is still manageable with three games left in the season (four for Tigres). But the win will be necessary for both. A draw will not help either team at this point.
Tigres playmaker Lucas Lobos who was born in Argentina but is a naturalized Mexican citizen was suppose to miss this game due to the fact that new Mexican National Team manager Miguel Herrera called him up. But due to a “personal problem” which is the delicate health of his son, Lobos has left the Mexican National Team camp in Mexico City and returned to Monterrey. Lobos made the trip to the border with his club which indicates that he will play in the match against Xolos.
